The Haryana government on Tuesday approved 'financial assistance to women and girl acid attack victims scheme' under which the survivors of the crime will be eligible for monthly pension.
A decision to this effect was taken during a meeting of the Haryana Cabinet here, which was chaired by Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar.
The cabinet gave its approval stating the scheme "would be a continuous source of income for the victim throughout her life".
"It (the scheme) seeks to restore, to an extent, the right to live with dignity for a woman or girl acid attack victim," an official release from the government read.
Any woman or girl acid attack victim on or after May 2, 2011 will be eligible for benefits under the scheme.

The financial assistance will be given on the basis of percentage of disability. In case of 40 to 50 per cent disability, 2.5 times of Divyang pension will be given to the acid attack victim.
In case of 51 to 60 per cent disability, 3.5 times of Divyang pension will be given and more than 61 per cent disability will warrant 4.5 times of the Divyang pension, the release said.
Either the victim herself or parents or her legal guardian can apply to the district social welfare officer for relief after completing necessary formalities.
In another decision, the Haryana cabinet approved the revenue and disaster management proposal to revise the registration fee for the registration of non-testamentary documents relating to immovable property.
The rates of registration fees were revised on November 6, 2006 according to which the maximum rate of registration fee is Rs 15,000, if the value of consideration in money terms exceeds Rs 25 lakh.
Non-testamentary documents relating to immovable property are instrument of sale, gift, mortgages, sale certificates, rent or lease deed, collaboration agreement, deed of exchange of property, deed of settlement and deed of partition.
