Indian patent office and the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) have signed a cooperation agreement to facilitate exchange of data, the commerce and industry ministry said today.
The exchange of data includes Indian patent documents, search and examination reports to make priority documents available electronically, a statement said.
The Controller General of Patents, Designs & Trade Marks (CGPDTM) under the commerce and industry ministry deals with issues related to patents, design, trademarks and geographical indicators.

According to the statement, the pact covers cooperative activities for the improvement of IP (intellectual property) business services at the office, including projects for digitalisation, data capture and data quality improvement, data exchange for the dissemination of IP information, and document management.
The agreement was inked on October 5 at Geneva, Switzerland.
