An Indian activist who has been cycling around the world for nine years to spread awareness about AIDS, has reached Bahrain, reports here said.

Somen Debnath is scheduled to stay in Manama for two weeks and will be conducting workshops to raise awareness about the disease.

Debnath started his 'Around the World on Bicycle' initiative in 2004 to spread awareness on HIV/AIDS.

He celebrated India's Independence Day in Doha, Qatar, following which he has resumed his world tour.

Bahrain is the 80th country on his journey so far and he is expected to visit a total of 191 countries by 2020.

He plans to spread his message to around two million people across the seven continents and cover 200,000 km by the end of his journey.

Debnath says he also intends to promote Indian culture and spread the message of peace and humanity.
