Three foreign workers, including an Indian, have been sent back to their home countries after serving jail terms for making false injury claims, a report said today.

Govindan Raja, an Indian national, along with two Bangladeshis had claimed being injured at work, The Straits Times said.

The trio tried to get compensation fraudulently from their employers under the Work Injury Compensation Act.

Raja and Bangladeshis Billal Hossain Kader Molla and Khan Momen had claimed injuries between April and July last year, it said.

Each of them had spent two to four weeks in jail for making false work injury claims, the Ministry of Manpower said.

Officials investigating the case said that a standard procedure in such work injury claims found that the three had lied about the accidents.

The three workers have been sent back to their home countries after serving their sentences, the report added.
