Indian jockey injured during race in Australia

Jockey Hari Singh was injured during New South Wales Race at Tamworth when he was riding Blue Onyx, according to NSW Racing statement.

Singh was in an induced coma at Newcastle John Hunter Hospital after he suffered bleeding on the brain following the race fall two weeks ago.

He suffered two broken vertebrae and bleeding on the brain.

Racing authorities were trying to arrange to fly his family to Australia.

According to racing NSW safety officer, Maurice Logue, today "Hari's wife Abu, daughter Priya and brother Nan arrived in Newcastle yesterday. They spent the day with Hari who was pleased to see his family. Hari is continuing to make steady progress."

 

Singh came to NSW to take up an apprenticeship as a jockey with trainer Jeff Englebrecht.
