Institutes sign pact for developing bio resources in NE

Institute of Bioresources and Sustainable Development (IBSD) today inked an MoU with Nakdonggang National Institute of Biological Resources (NNIBR) of Korea to help commercial development of bio-resources in the North east region.

It is aimed at bringing about collaborative research and development between IBSD and NNIBR and also involve exchange of researchers between the two institutes.

IBSD director Prof D Sahoo stressed on the uniqueness of the north eastern region and said the pact will focus on joint research and development of science and technology for sustainable utilisation of its bio-resources.

NNIBR Director Wook Jae Lee, principal researcher Namil Chung and senior researcher Dr Mi-Hwa Lee spoke of the many unique bio-resources available in north-east India out of which a few could be commercialised for socio-economic development of the region, a spokesperson of IBSD said.
