Intense heat returns to most parts of Odisha

Intense heat returned to most parts of Odisha today after a respite for three days with Angul becoming the hottest place in the state recording 43.7 degrees Celsius.

The mercury breached the 40-degree Celsius mark in at least 10 places, compared to seven places yesterday and four on Sunday.

Closely following Angul was the state capital of Bhubaneswar which recorded a maximum temperature of 42.7 degree celsius, the MeT office here said.

Hirakud recorded a maximum temperature of 41.8 degree Celsius, while the mercury stood at 41.2 degree Celsius in Talcher, 40.8 deg C at Sonepur, 40.7 degree Celsius in Sambalpur, 40.5 degree celsius at Balangir, 40.3 deg C at Jharsuguda and 40 degeree celsius at both Cuttack and Malkangiri, it said.
