Despite it being a holiday, all
functional units of J&K Bank in Kashmir Valley remained open today and carried out normal business to facilitate flood relief operations.
"Despite it being a holiday, all functional business units (branches) of J&K Bank in the Kashmir Valley remained open today," Bank spokesman Anil Sharma said.

"Hassle free banking and financial services were rendered to the customers across the Valley. About Rs 31 crores were withdrawn from these branches and 242 active ATMs across the Valley," Sharma said.
J&K Bank President Abdul Rauf Bhat has also hailed the efforts of the bank staff to make it possible for the bank to render normal banking services to people.
He said, "Despite extreme conditions our staff, which too was affected by the floods, put their best foot forward to put the banking system back on track."
"For the first few days everyone was clueless, but the tremendous efforts put in by the staff made it possible to restore banking services," he said.
Bhat further said the bank had always remained at the fore front of the people of the state in extreme distress situation and shall continue to support their development towards prosperity.
"At this hour of grief let me again apprise you about the assurance of our chairman and chief executive officer that the bank shall be a major partner in rebuilding the shattered infrastructure and economy of the affected areas," he said.
