J-K CM asks officials to speed up probe into civilian's death

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti today asked the Kupwara administration to speed up its probe into the death of a civilian in an exchange of fire between Army personnel and terrorists in the district.

Expressing grief over the death of Asif Iqbal Bhat, a driver by profession, Mufti asked the district administration to find out the circumstances in which the Thandipora resident was killed.

She also expressed sympathies with his family.

Bhat was injured in the firing last night. He was taken to Kralpora sub-district hospital, from where he was referred to a hospital in Srinagar, where he succumbed to his injuries.
 

Kupwara District Commissioner Khalid Jehangir has ordered an inquiry into the incident.
