The Jammu and Kashmir government has taken up a project to issue Permanent Resident Certificate (PRC) and caste certificates at the school level.

"The government has taken up a project to issue Permanent Resident Certificate and caste certificates at the school level" Minister of State for Revenue, Sunil Kumar Sharma, said.

The minister was speaking during a dayl-ong visit to an NGO-run orphanage home at Katra.

Sharma said, "we have started the project in Kishtwar district on a trial basis in 17 Schools and have issued over 500 certificates so far".

He said that soon all educational institutions of the state will be covered under the project.

He said the distribution of these certificates to students would eliminate hardships they had to face otherwise.

"It would also reduce the time taken for the delivery of these services and would also reduce the workload of officials," he said.
