Jharkhand Assembly today paid homage to former Jharkhand governor Syed Ahmed, former West Bengal governor H A Halim, VHP president Ashok Singhal and other leaders who passed away between its monsoon and winter sessions.
Speaker Dinesh Oraon also paid tributes to former BCCI president Jagmohan Dalmiya, music directors Ravindra Jain and Adesh Srivastav, actors Mohan Bhandari, Syed Jafri and litterateur Viren Darwal who died recently.
The members also expressed grief at the loss of lives in heavy rains in Chennai and the 14 people who died when their car was hit by a train at an unmanned-level crossing in the state's Ramgarh district on November 7.
Later, the House adjourned for the day.
