Press Trust of India New Delhi
Prices of jeera and red chilli were up by Rs 100 per quintal at the wholesale kirana market today on revival of buying by stockists largely on strong demand against tight supplies from producing belts.

Traders said apart from improved demand from retailers, tight supplies on decline in arrivals from producing belts mainly led to the rise in jeera and chilli prices.

In the national capital, jeera common, best quality and red chilli rose by Rs 100 each to Rs 16,800-17,300, Rs 20,300-20,800 and Rs 6,600-12,600 per quintal, respectively.

Following are today's quotations (in Rs):

Ajwain (per kg) 150-185, black pepper (per kg) 560-740, betel-nut (kg) 300-350, cardamom brown-Jhundiwali (kg) 1,690-1,700 and cardamom brown-Kanchicut (kg) 1,800-1,900.

Cardamom small (kg): Chitridar 770-830, cardamom (colour robin) 770-790, cardamom bold 780-800, cardamom extra (bold) 910-960 and cloves 710-830.
