The state government has appointed Sayyed Hussain, a judge of Mumbai sessions court, as Chief Executive Officer of Wakf Board which has faced controversies in the recent past.
In July, previous CEO Noor Mohammed Dost Mohammed Pathan was arrested by Nanded Anti-Corruption Bureau officers. He is accused of purchasing properties worth crores of rupees, disproportionate to known sources of income, in wife's name.
Also, there have been several reports about land sharks trying to grab Wakf Board's lands across the state.
"Judge Hussain's appointment is significant because for the first time a person from the judiciary has been appointed to the post," Minister for Minorities Development and Wakf Naseem Khan said here today.
