Julian Casablancas has announced details of his first album with backing band The Voidz.

They will release their debut album Tyranny on September 19 via Casablancas's own Cult Records label, reported Digita Spy.

The record has been written and recorded over the past 12 months by Casablancas and Voidz band members Jeramy Gritter, Amir Yaghmai, Jeff Kite, Jake Bercovici and Alex Carapetis.

Speaking about Tyranny, Casablancas said, "Tyranny has come in many forms throughout history. Now, the good of business is put above anything else, as corporations have become the new ruling body.

"Most decisions seem to be made like ones of a medieval king: whatever makes profit while ignoring and repressing the truth about whatever suffering it may cause (like pop music, for that matter)."

The album is now available for pre-order on the Cult Records website, along with a new video teaser featuring live tour footage.
