Kerala Police today registered an FIR against a man hailing from Kallayi here who has allegedly joined banned outfit ISIS, a day after four youths were questioned following their deportation from UAE for allegedly endorsing the terror group's views.

A case has been registered against one Riasul Rehaman alias Riyad, hailing from Kallayi in Kozhikode district, under Section 125 of IPC and Sections 20 and 38 of Unlawful Activities (Prevention Act), SP and district police chief, Malappuram, Debesh Kumar Behera, told PTI.

According to the FIR, which police sources said was registered suo motu by police, Rehaman had joined Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) and, via social media, had tried to recruit people into the banned outfit.

Police said they were yet to trace his whereabouts.

Intelligence officials had yesterday questioned four youths who had been deported from UAE for allegedly endorsing the views of ISIS on social media. The youths had arrived at Thiruvananthapuram and Karipur airports and were later let off.

On September 11, an Indian woman -- identified as 37-year- old Afsha Jabeen -- was arrested at Hyderabad airport after landing in India following her deportation by UAE for allegedly being involved in recruiting people for ISIS.
