Kerala government today sanctioned Rs 35 lakh for repairing the damaged house of renowned Economist, late Prof I S Gulati here.

The amount will also be utilised for constructing the damaged protection wall, a press release said.

The decision in this regard was taken at today's cabinet.

The house on a hilly terrain at Chettikunnu at nearby Kumarapuram suffered damage due to indiscrimnate removal of earth by a builder for constructing a flat nearby.

Eminent Architect Laurie Baker, had constructed the house in 1982.

After her husband's death, Leela Gulati was staying alone in the house which suffered severe damage following indiscriminate removal of earth in a property below the hill.

Leela Gulati moved to a nearby outhouse, also built by Lauri Baker, in December last year after it was found that the building was unsafe.
