A man was released by his kidnappers within 12 hours of his abduction, police claimed today.
Three persons were also arrested in connection with the abduction of Santokh Singh, said SSP Hoshiarpur J Elanchezhian.
He said that a complaint was received yesterday on police helpline number 181 about the kidnapping and a case was registered in Mehtiana police station.

The complainant had told the police that kidnappers had demanded a ransom of Rs 5 lakh to release his brother-in-law Santokh.
To trace him a number of police team were dispatched in the area and special checkpoints were set up at many places, the SSP said.
Due to the pressure mounted by the police, the kidnappers dropped Santokh Singh at village Sarhala Kalan, police said.
Santokh said that he was allegedly kidnapped by Kamaljit Singh, alias Kamal of Mehtiana, Jaspreet Singh, alias Jassa of Makhsuspur and Kuldeep Singh alias Deepa of Khera.
Later, police arrested Kamaljit and Kuldeep at a bridge near Panjora today and also seized 112 gm and 90 gram intoxicated powder from them .
Jaspreet Singh was too arrested at a check post near village Mananhana and during his personal search 105 gram intoxicated powder was seized.
During preliminary interrogation, all the accused confessed that they had kidnapped Santokh for purchasing intoxicating material. They are being produced in a local court, police said.
