Krishnapatnam Port Company Ltd today said it has joined the relief and rescue operations in flood-hit Chennai.
The company is reaching out to the distressed people in the affected areas through CVR Foundation, carved out for CSR activities.
"To support the scale up of emergency efforts and to reach out to the people of Chennai who have borne the brunt of the deluge, the foundation immediately provided assistance to support critical needs, delivered urgent medical relief, and deployed specialist teams," Krishnapatnam Port said in a statement.

Tata Power gets HC nod for amalgamation of NSW with arm * Tata Power today said that Bombay High Court has approved amalgamation of NewGen Saurashtra Windfarms Ltd (NSW) with its arm Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd.
"Vide order dated December 4, 2015, the Bombay High Court sanctioned the Scheme of Amalgamation of NewGen Saurashtra Windfarms Limited with Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd (a wholly owned subsidiary of the company) and their respective shareholders and creditors," Tata Power Company Ltd said in a BSE filing.
According to the statement, the authenticated copy of the final order is still awaited.

Private insurer Bajaj Allianz Life Insurance today launched a plan targeting mainly people from small income groups coming from rural areas.
The minimum premium of the micro-term scheme, 'Bima Dhan Suraksha Yojana', is capped at Rs 1,500 annually, or Rs 200 monthly, Bajaj Allianz Life said in a statement.
For a longer policy term (maximum 10 years), a person can get a protection cover (sum assured) of up to 35 times of the annual premium if he/she opts for regular premium before the age of 35 years, it said adding the plan can be bought at the age of 18 and up to 60 years. The plan has three policy terms of 5, 7 and 10 years.
OnMobile divests speech technology assets for 650,000 euros
* OnMobile SA, a wholly-owned subsidiary of value-added services provider OnMobile Global, today said it will divest certain speech technology assets to Voicebox Technologies France for 650,000 euros (Rs 4.72 crore).
"This divestiture is in line with the company's plan to concentrate its energy and resources on strategic initiatives.
"The speech recognition technology that OnMobile acquired through Telisma in 2008 has served its business needs well, but is no longer imperative for OnMobile's new offerings, which are focused on smartphone apps," Florent Stroppa OnMobile SA Managing Director said.
The transaction is expected to close by January 31, 2016, he added.

Of the enhanced borrowing limit, Rs 2,000 crore will be through non-convertible debentures, the company said in a regulatory filing.
"The company will be having its board meeting on the April 12, 2016, wherein it is proposed to increase the borrowing powers to Rs 15,000 crore of which an amount up to Rs 2,000 crore will be through non-convertible debentures (NCDs)", it said.

Citing data from analytics firm comScore, Gadgets 360 said nearly 6.25 million people visited the platform on the desktop and another 7.55 million unique visitors from smartphones.

* Vikram Solar has partnered with German firm teamtechnik to support its expansion plans of increasing manufacturing capacity to 2 GW by 2019.
"Today, both companies signed a MoU for the collaboration in the presence of Finance Minister of West Bengal, Amit Mitra. Vikram Solar is set to expand its module production from current 500 MW to 2 GW by 2019," it said in a statement.
Vikram Solar plans to invest more than Rs 400 crore in the project, creating around 3,000 additional jobs. Vikram Solar's module production capacity, which is currently at 500 MW, is to be expanded to 2 GW by 2019, it said
Teamtechnik will supply solutions and machines for solar module production and put them into operation as well as train operations managers, process engineers and service technicians at Vikram Solar.

"Yes Bank has commenced first of its kind Unified Payments Interface (UPI) services by partnering with 50 businesses, to catalyse one of the biggest payment innovations in the banking universe with an aim to make fund transfer easier and move towards a cashless economy," it said in a release.
The UPI framework will enable low cost, high volume, electronic payments straight from the user's smart phone and will make transactions instant, secure and interoperable, it said.
Launched by RBI entity National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), UPI is set to revolutionise the digital banking in India and enable hassle free payments.

Surya Roshini Q1 up 8.13% to Rs 13 cr
* Lighting goods and GI pipemaker Surya Roshini Ltd today posted 8.13 per cent increase in its standalone net profit to Rs 12.90 crore for the first quarter ended June 30, 2016.
The company has posted a net profit of Rs 11.93 crore in April-June quarter a-year ago, Surya Roshini informed BSE in a filing.
Its net sales during the period under review was up 5.55 per cent to Rs 804.35 crore as against Rs 761.99 crore of the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal.
Meanwhile, in a separate filing Surya Roshini informed that its board in a meeting held today has formed a business reorganisation committee for "formulation of sustainable options of realignment, reorganisation and restructuring of its business".
Shares of Surya Roshini today settled at Rs 203.50 on BSE, up 2.60 per cent from previous close.
