The Kerala State Transport Corporation CMD Tomin Thachankary today donned the role of a bus conductor to get a first hand knowledge of the working conditions of the staff in the state-owned undertaking.
Thachankary, who is the ADGP of state Crime Record Bureau, has been given additional charge as the Chairman and Managing Director KSRTC on April 11.
The senior IPS officer, wearing the conductor's uniform of blue trousers and sky blue shirt and equipped with a hand held ticket machine, boarded the Thiruvananthapuram-Guruvayur fast passenger bus from here at around 1045 am.
The Chairman and Managing Director of the corporation travelled upto Thiruvalla, about 120 km away, handing out tickets to amused passengers.
Today, being May day is a government holiday. But Thachankary decided to utilise the labour day to understand the difficulties faced by conductors.
