Labourer dies in landslide

The labourer, Mahinder Singh, a resident of Ramban district, died on the spot after the landslide hit the village, police said today.

His body had been retrieved and handed over to his family.

In another incident, a shepherd, Gulzar Ahmad Chopan, died after he slipped into a gorge at Thajwas in Sonamarg area of Ganderbal district.

The 40-year-old Chopan, who had gone to graze his flock, was killed on the spot, police said.
