Amid pick up in demand form battery-makers at the domestic market, lead futures traded 0.12 per cent higher at Rs 123.20 per kg today as participants stepped up their bets.

Lead for delivery in July moved up by 15 paise, or 0.12 per cent, to Rs 123.20 per kg, in a business turnover of 456 lots in futures trading at the Multi Commodity Exchange.

On similar lines, the metal for delivery in August month was trading higher by 5 paise, or 0.04 per cent, at Rs 124.20 per kg in 29 lots.

Analysts said better demand from battery makers in the spot market, mainly supported the upmove in lead futures but a weak trend in base metals overseas, limited the gains.
