Light to moderate rainfall in UP; rivers in spate

Light to moderate rainfall and thunder showers occurred at isolated places over Uttar Pradesh as the major rivers continued to flow above the danger mark at several places in the state.

According to MET office, chief amount of rainfall recorded in cms are - Mirzapur-4, Hamirpur-3, Chunar-2, Dalmau and Jhansi-1 each.

It forecast that rain and thundershowers would occur at isolated places over the state during the next 24 hours.

Meanwhile Central Water Commission sources said that Ganga at Phaphamau, Chatnag, Mirzapur, Varanasi, Gazipur and Ballia and Yamuna at Kalpi, Hamirpur, Chillghat (Banda) and Naini were flowing above the danger mark.
 

Betwa at Sahijana, Ken at Banda, Sharda at Palia Kalan and Ghaghra were also flowing above the red mark, they added.
