Lin-Manuel Miranda to star in new 'Mary Poppins' film

Broadway star Lin-Manuel Miranda is in negotiations for Disney's upcoming new take on "Mary Poppins".
The 36-year-old actor is expected to join Emily Blunt who has already been confirmed to take over the title role originated by Julie Andrews in the 1964 original film.
According to Variety, Miranda is courting the role of Jack, a lamplighter that shares similarities to the character of Bert, who was famously played by Dick Van Dyke in the original film.

The creator, writer and star of "Hamilton" is also expected to help with the movie's songs.
Rob Marshall who directed Blunt in "Into the Woods" is attached to direct the new adaptation.
It is reportedly set about 20 years after the original and is based on the later books in the PL Travers series, specifically the ones that continue the nanny's adventures into the Great Depression.
It will follow the now-grown children of the Banks family.
