The Periyar Dravidar Viduthalai Kazhagam here today said it has urged Lt Governor Kiran Bedi to take steps to prevent the sale of banned raffle tickets in the Union Territory.
Convenor of the political organisation Gokul Gandhinath said he had written a detailed letter to Lt Governor bringing to her notice the 'illegal sale of banned raffle tickets' which affected several people, particularly the daily wage earners.
Even though the ban had been in force for several years, one could see 'illegal sale of raffle tickets in Puducherry taking place with political patronage', he alleged.
He appealed to the Lt Governor to take appropriate action against those selling the tickets and ensure that the ban order was observed in letter and spirit by the police authorities.
