Man arrested in connection with TMC leader murder

A Trinamool Congress worker was arrested today in connection with the murder of a Trinamool Congress leader, the police said.

Jubbar Shaikh, a TC worker from Asachhiya village in Nadia district was arrested early this morning in connection with the murder of a TMC leader Ashraful Mondal, Superintendent of Police Arnab Ghosh said.

Mondal (42) was killed on 31 May.

Shaikh was remanded to three days police custody by S Bose, ACJM, of Nadia.

Mondal was an elected member at Nakashipara Panchayat Samity. A resident of Haranagar Dakshinpara village, he was sitting in front of a tea stall near Haranagar Mosque at about 9.30 pm when a group of miscreants shot him from close range and he died on the spot.
