A Hajipur court today sentenced a man to 10-year rigorous imprisonment for trying to kill his father over a property dispute in Bihar's Vaishali district three years ago.
Additional District and Sessions Judge Bholanath Tiwary held Awadhesh Kumar guilty of attempting to kill his father and sentenced him to rigorous imprisonment for 10 years.
The court also imposed a fine of Rs 5,000 on Kumar.
Additional Public Prosecutor Shabd Kumar said the convict attacked his father Ramudgar Singh with a sword on January 18, 2015, at their residence in Veer Kunwar Singh Colony in Hajipur in connection with a property dispute.
Singh's right hand was chopped off in the attack, the prosecutor said.
An FIR was filed with the town police station against the son based on his father's statement.
