MCL releases first slot of Rs 16.52 crore for water schemes

Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) today released the first instalment of Rs 16.52 crore for two pipe water supply schemes for 35 villages of Talcher and Kaniha blocks of Angul district in Odisha.

A Rs 56.89 crore project has been sanctioned by MCL under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) to address the water scarcity in the peripheral villages in Talcher, the largest coalfield in the country, a company release said.

On behalf of Angul district Collector, the first instalment cheque was received by Special Land Acquisition Officer Magiram Pradhan from MCL's General Manager (CSR), B B Mishra, it said.

RWS & S, Division Angul of the Odisha Government has been entrusted with the execution of these water supply schemes, scheduled to be completed in 24 months.
 

MCL, a leading coal mining subsidiary of Coal India Limited under the Ministry of Coal, Government India, has its operations in Sundergarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur and Angul districts of Odisha.
