In a tribute to those who sacrificed their lives for the motherland, Haryana government will build memorials of the state's war heroes in their home villages.
According to Development and Panchayats Minister, O P Dhankar, the memorials will be a source of inspiration for the youth.
"Memorials would be constructed of the recipients of Param Vir Chakra, Mahavir Chakra and Vir Chakra and those who were awarded with the Victoria Cross in first and second World Wars," Dhankar said in a statement today.
The proposal has been approved by Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, he added.
Stressing that Haryana was famous for its heroic saga the world over, the minister said memorials would be built in the home village of the martyrs.

"The heroic saga and the biography of the brave soldier would also be inscribed on the memorial," he said.
Dhankar said that 'Gram Gaurav Patts' (village pride boards) were also being installed in the villages with the names of freedom fighters and martyrs who made unmatched contribution to the country and society.
Directions have been issued to complete the construction work of the 'Gram Gaurav Patts' by August 15.
