Minor girl raped by 55-year-old man in Assam

A 55-year-old man allegedly raped a minor girl in lower Assam's Kokrajhar district, police said today.

The incident, which took place yesterday, came to light after the six-year-old girl narrated her ordeal to her mother, they said.

The girl's mother lodged a complaint at Kokrajhar police station, following which the accused was arrested, the police said.

Meanwhile, women wings of the Bodoland People's Front (BPF) took out a protest rally today in Kokrajhar town.

Along with the women wings of BPF, several other organisations have also condemned the incident and demanded stringent punishment to the accused.
