The state election commission today clarified thatthe Model Code of Conduct for Panchayat elections has been enforced only intwo districts ofLahaul and Spiti and Chamba.
"The Commission is receiving number of references from various departments regarding clarification about the enforcement of model code of conduct butsince the notification of Election Commission is very clear regarding applicability of model code of conduct in two districts of Chamba and Lahaul and Spiti, other districts of the state are not covered under it," a spokesman of the Commission said.
He said the poll schedule of Panchayati Raj institutions had not been announced for other 10 districts and elections are being held only in some tribal areas which receive early snowfall, he added.
Elections in some areas in the two districts were announced on October 28.
