Most highways to be 4 or 6-laned in Punjab in 5 years

The Punjab government is committed to strengthen the infrastructure system within a stipulated time-frame, PWD Minister Saranjit Singh Dhillon said here.

The state government has decided to complete four-laning or six-laning of 90 per cent of national highway routes in the state over the next five years, he said.

The conversion of two-lane NH-15 into four-lane will cost Rs 3,000 crore, Dhillon said adding the project will start from October 2013 and completed by 2016.

The minister said the survey and other formalities related to broadening of NH-15 have been completed.

Amritsar-Bathinda, Bathinda-Rajasthan border, Patiala-Bathinda and Doraha-Ludhiana are among other major national highways taken up for broadening process, he said.
