Announcing elaborate steps being taken to celebrate Netaji Jayanti on January 23, Odisha Tourism and Culture minister Maheswar Mohanty said that Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik would inaugurate a light-and-sound show at the museum depicting Netaji's childhood days in Cuttack.
"The new gallery would showcase the spiritual aspect of Netaji, whose spiritual beliefs are not well known among the people," an official at the museum said.
The official said that Netaji always carried a copy of the Bhagawad Gita, a photo of Goddess Kali and rudrakshya beads wherever he went, adding that articles related to his spiritual life would be displayed in the new gallery.
The museum currently has 15 galleries displaying books, periodicals, rare photographs and household articles of Netaji from his childhood and INA days.
At a review meeting of the preparations for the upcoming event held yesterday, Mohanty said the state government was mulling a proposal by the Cuttack Municipal Corporation to name the city's railway station after the legendary commander of the Indian National Army.
