Narayanasamy turns 70; PM, Sonia extend greetings

Puducherry Chief Minister V Narayanasamy turned 70 today.
According to a release from his office, Prime Minister Narendra Modi greeted him via Twitter and said he prayed for the Chief Minister's long and healthy life.
AICC president Sonia Gandhi, vice-president Rahul Gandhi, former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and leaders of the party from different states greeted Narayanasamy over the phone, sources close to the Chief Minister said.

Puducherry Assembly Speaker V Vaithilingam, Deputy Speaker V P Sivakolundhu, Ministers, Legislators and members of different wings of the ruling Congress were among those who offered prayers at the Manakula Vinayakar temple.
They also pulled the golden chariot within the precincts of the temple.
Special welfare programmes were launched at various homes in and around Puducherry.
The PCC president and PWD Minister A Namassivayam cut a massive cake weighing 70 kg at a function at the Congress office here in which Ministers, MLAs and freedom fighters were present.
