Former BJP leader Maya Kodnani's colleague Dhaval Shah today told a court hearing the 2002 Naroda Gam riot case that she was at her hospital for most part of February 28, 2002, the day of the incident.

Shah, a partner doctor at Kodnani's Shivam Maternity and Surgical Nursing Home, said while deposing as a defence witness today that when he reached the hospital around 2 pm that day, Kodnani was there.

Kodnani examined a pregnant woman and left the hospital at 5 pm, and the woman delivered a baby at 5.30 pm, Dr Shah told judge P B Desai.

The next hearing will be on August 4.

Naroda Gam is one of the nine major post-Godhra riot cases investigated by the Supreme Court-appointed SIT.

Eleven Muslims were killed at Naroda Gam on the outskirts of Ahmedabad on February 28, 2002, a day after the Godhra train burning incident.

A total of 82 people, including Kodnani, are facing trial in the case.
