A business delegation from the north east region, led by Union DONER Minister Paban Singh Ghatowar explored oppurtunities to establish bilateral cooperation with Cambodia at Phnom Penh today.
Ghatowar told 'The North East India - Cambodia Business Conclave' that the country's huge investment potential would benefit both countries and highlighted the geographical significance of the north east in attracting investment for economic stability, an official release here said.
"Indo-Cambodia relationship has great scope when it comes to trading and investment, spanning pharmaceutical, transportation, IT, agriculture and infrastructure," he said.
North East India will be a business hub connecting India and Asian countries and as such, Cambodia will be a key partner for small and medium enterprises, he said.
Cambodia's Deputy Secretary of State, Ministry of Industry Mines and Energy, Ith Prang said more investment can come from India in building manufacturing units in his country and they can do backward integration of small and medium enterprises in agricultural sector, garment manufacturing units, steel and food processing, the release said.
Indian Chambers of Commerce director General Rajeev Singh said Indian businessmen have the means and quality products and services to offer to Cambodia.
Besides Ghatowar, the 40-member business delegation includes tourism Ministers of Assam, Nagaland and Mizoram-- Pradyut Bordoloi, Phom Pangnyu and Hiato respectively.
The conclave was organised by ICC in partnership with the Indian Embassy in Cambodia and the Indian Chamber of Commerce of Cambodia, the release added.
