Nepal sets-up its first Ebola help desk

In a bid to check Ebola virus form entering the country, Nepal government has set up a quarantine help desk in Kakadvitta, the main border check-point with India.

The facility started functioning on the premises of Immigration Office, Jhapa on Sunday.

Kakadvitta in eastern Nepal shares border with West Bengal and is close to Sikkim, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, among other North-Eastern states of India.

A team of health workers led by Assistant Health Worker, Harishchandra Devkota, has been put in-charge of the help desk.

He said that the team would screen foreigners entering Nepal from Ebola-affected countries, provide necessary health counselling and quarantine the people suspected to be affected by the virus.
