Press Trust of India Dehra Dun

Reviewing the preparations of disaster management ahead of monsoon, Bahuguna said Rs 1 crore more would shortly be given to the districts to deal with any eventuality.

The Chief Minister also directed the district magistrates to ensure availability of foodgrains, kerosene oil, drinking water, medicines, milk, necessary equipment and alternative shelters in all identified sensitive areas.

Bahuguna asked the DMs to impart sufficient training to officials and employees deputed at disaster control rooms.

He also directed the DMs to maintain a coordination with para-military forces, BRO and other institutions so that they could be contacted in the time of emergencies.

He asked the officials to provide 50 emergency lights to each district to facilitate rescue and relief works during night besides satellite phones, gas cutters and other equipment.
