One killed as SUV hits stationary truck

One person was killed and four others were injured, when the vehicle, they were travelling in, collided with a stationary truck near Badli bye-pass this evening, police said.

The accident happened around 5 pm when Preetpal Singh, a resident of Jammu, along with his wife Satpal Kaur (40), two sons -- Amanpreet (18) and Tushar (15) -- and his driver Naresh (48) were on way to Jammu from Delhi.

44-year-old Singh, who was driving the SUV, lost control of the vehicle and it collided with the stationary truck, which was standing near the divider after a deflated tyre, they said.
 

Everybody was rushed to a nearby hospital, where Singh was declared brought dead.

The other four persons - Singh's wife, his two sons and his driver - were discharged after treatment as they had sustained minor injuries, police said.
