Original manuscript of Don McLean's 1971 popular eight-minute ballad 'American Pie' is set to be auctioned.
The 16 pages of handwritten and typed drafts will include notes and deletions from a song that has since gained iconic status, reported the Guardian.
It was named a Song of the Century by the Recording Industry Association of America in 2001, and auctioneers Christie's have predicted the papers could fetch USD 1.5 million.
Many believe the auction might shed light on the meaning of the song that has been subject to decades of debate and interpretation.
