P Savalaram award for playback singer Suresh Wadkar

The 'Janakavi P Savalaram' award is given jointly by the 'Savlaram Kala Samiti' and Thane Municipal Corporation in the memory of the lyricist of the yore, who had also been the president of the civic body.

The award, carrying a citation and Rs 25,000 in cash, will be given to Wadkar, who has sung a number of songs in many languages, at a function here, the Thane Municipal Corporation said in a release.

Besides, Wadkar, Marathi singer Pushpa Paghdhare will be honoured with the 'Ganga-Jamuna' award, named after a famous Marathi song of yesteryears penned by the late lyricist, for her contribution to Marathi music.
