As many as 4,119 security personnel will be deployed for the Palghar Lok Sabha by-election in Maharashtra on May 28.

Besides, 12,894 government employees would be engaged in election duty, Palghar collector and returning officer for the election Prashant Naranvare today said.

Of 2,097 polling centres, 14 have been identified as "critical", and extra security would be provided in these places.

Polling will be held from 7 am to 6 pm, while the counting will take place on May 31.

"The administration is geared up to ensure a peaceful and successful polling. We appeal voters to participate in the election in large numbers," the collector said.

The by-election was necessitated due to the death of BJP MP Chintaman Wanaga.
