The head of a sports club which organised a parasailing event here during which a 53-year old man fell to death from a height of 50 metres has been booked for alleged negligence, police said today.

A case under Section 304(a) (causing death by negligence) of IPC has been registered against Babu, the head of Indian Aerospace and Sports Club, based on a complaint by the wife of Malleswara Rao, who fell to death when the buckle of his parachute opened.

A search is on for Babu who is at large, police said.

Though the event was reportedly organised as part of the centenary celebrations of Coimbatore Medical College, police said the college authorities had in the last minute cancelled it, considering the risk involved.

Moreover, the organisers did not take permission either from police or the appropriate authority to conduct the event, they said.
