Pharmacist held on graft charges

A pharmacist of a community health centre in Ambala district was arrested by the state vigilance department officials for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 3,500 from a person in lieu of issuing a birth certificate to him, official sources said today.
The accused Avneet Kumar had demanded the money from a person for issuing a birth certificate following which the latter registered a complaint with the vigilance officials against him, they said.
The officials laid a trap yesterday during which Kumar was caught red-handed while accepting the bribe.
A case under Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against him, the sources added.
