After remaining on strike for three days, employees of the Public Health Engineering (PHE) department here today decided to defer their agitation by a week.
"Water supply has been restored in the city," Chief Engineer PHE, Jammu, Sushil Aima said.
The workers went on indefinite strike in support of their demands, including regularisation of daily wage labourers, leading to serious water crisis.
Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Shantmanu chaired a high- level meeting of officers here and directed the PHE authorities to take all necessary measures to ensure restoration and maintenance of regular water supply.
He warned that strict action under ESMA shall be initiated against the regular employees of PHE Department who are not performing their official duties.
