Police Officer in-charge killed in firing by criminals

Officer in-charge of Bhadgama police station in Bihar's Araria district was today killed in firing by criminals during a police operation to nab history-sheeters.

"OC Praveen Kumar was leading a team of his police station which along with personnel of Raniganj police station had encircled criminals hiding in a school premises in Belsara panchayat, about 25 km from district headquarter," Additional Superintendent of Police Rajiv Ranjan told PTI.

Finding themselves encircled by police, the criminals opened indiscriminate firing on police forces resulting in death of the OC on the spot, Ranjan said.

Kumar (35) was a native of Muzaffarpur district.
 

Police was conducting hectic search for the criminals who managed to flee from the spot after firing, the ASP SAID.

Body of the dead OC has been brought to sadar hospital where Deputy Inspector General of Police Ram Narain Singh has reached.
