politcal Banners, graffiti removed by Election officials

: Based on complaints of poll code violation, election officials have so far removed 516 political banners, cleaned up 253 graffiti on walls and 66 party flags, in the run up to the mayoral bye elections for the city corporation, to be held on September 18.

The complaints were received from the general public of five zone of the corporation, official sources said.

Of the 1,226 polling booths, 236 have been identified as sensitive and steps have been taken to videograph the poll proceedings and installation of cctc cameras in them.

There are about 12.90 lakh eligible voters, of which 6,52,731 are male, 6,37,874 female and 47 others (transgenders).
 

Of the total polling booths in 100 wards, 125 each are for male and female and 976 general booths, with 1,380 EVMs.

Nearly 5,800 officials are assigned for election duty, they said.
