The state-owned Power Grid today started e-Reverse Auction (eRA) for 25 KVA distribution transformers and aerial bunch cables in a bid to enhance transparency in procurement of large-scale power equipment by state power utilities and economise pricing.

Power Grid is conducting this eRA for bulk procurement of major power equipment like transformers, cables and conductors under the Integrated Power Development Scheme (IPDS) and Deendayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana (DDUGJY) on behalf of the committee appointed by the power ministry, the ministry said.

IPDS and DDUGJY are flagship schemes of the Power Ministry.

To facilitate and handhold states in mobilising major items with standard technical specifications at competitive price through a transparent bidding process under these schemes, two high-powered committees were constituted, the ministry said.

These committee have members from the Power Finance Corporation, the Rural Electrification Corporation, Power Grid and state utilities, among others.

The process involves listing major equipment and materials, finalisation of technical specifications, aggregate requirement from various states and preparing bidding documents to carry out the bidding process through e-tendering in the reverse bidding mode and finalise the most competitive price, it added.

The state-owned MSTC is providing the platform for the auction process.
