Tamil film actor 'Power Star' Srinivasan has sought advance bail from the Madras High Court Bench here after a court in Sivakasi issued an arrest warrant against him in a case of cheating.

When the petition came up for hearing today, Justice C S Karnan posted it to October 21.

The prosecution case is that Srinivasan, already facing other cheating cases, had purchased a stolen SUV from one Jothirajan and sold the same to another person.

The case in this regard had been registered in the Thiruthangal police station in Virudhunagar district on a complaint from the Virudhunagar Regional Transport Officer (RTO) who stated that Srinivasan had sold the vehicle with the knowledge that it was a stolen one.

A chargesheet was filed against Srinivasan in 2007 in the Sivakasi Judicial Magistrate Court. As he failed to appear in the court despite repeated summons, an arrest warrant was issued recently.

Apprehending arrest, the actor filed an anticipatory bail plea in the high court, stating that he was implicated in the case.
