Pratap Jyoti Handique appointed new V-C of Gauhati University

Assam Governor and Chancellor of Gauhati University Jagdish Mukhi has appointed Pratap Jyoti Handique as the new vice-chancellor of the varsity.

Handique shall hold office for a period of five years or till he attains the age of 70 years, whichever is earlier as per provisions under the Gauhati University Act, 1947, a Raj Bhavan release said here on Monday.

At present, Handique is a professor in the Department of Bio-technology, Gauhati University, it added.
