Prayers mark Eid celebrations in Gujarat

Eid-ul-Fitr was celebrated with much gaiety and fervour by Muslims in Gujarat today with leaders from different political parties, including Chief Minister Anandiben Patel, extending wishes.

Attired in traditional robes, Muslim brethren gathered at mosques and Eidgahs in the city early morning to offer 'namaaz', marking the end of month-long Ramzan.

After offering prayer, they greeted each other with "Eid mubarak" as they hugged family members and friends.

Thousands of Muslims gathered at Jama Masjid at Teen Darwaza in the old city area to offer the Eid namaaz, large number of people also turned up at Eidgah near Kankaria lake.
 

Historic Sarkhej Roza mosque also saw good number of Muslims congregating to offer prayers.

On the occasion, mayor Gautam Shah of BJP visited Congress corporator and prominent local Muslim leader Bhadruddin Sheikh to extend greetings.

Other cities also saw similar enthusiasm among revellers.

Anandiben Patel and Congress MLA and party's national spokesperson Shaktisinh Gohil took to twitter to greet Muslims on Eid.

"Wishing all Muslim brothers and sisters a very happy Eid-ul -Fitr. Wishes of peace, harmony and prosperity. Eid Mubarak!" the chief minister tweeted.
